Biography of Milbourne Christopher (March 23, 1914 – June 17, 1984)

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. Milbourne Christopher rose to become one of the most well-known magicians of his day. He was recognized by the public at large due in part to his appearances on television programs such as the Mike Douglas Show, The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson, That Regis Philbin Show, and his own TV specials.

In his professional life, Milbourne Christopher was President of the Society of American Magicians, an honorary vice-president to the Magic Circle, and one of the founding members of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. He also spent time debunking various “psychics” who utilized magic tricks and principles to defraud.

Milbourne Christopher was a prolific writer, with several books on the history of magic, books debunking various “psychic” beliefs, and magic in general.

Milbourne Christopher died on June 17, 1984 in New York City.
